Time Flies...

I have removed many posts and stopped blogging until all the issues from the car accident have been taken care of and addressed. The time line has been moved out.  Finally as of April 1, 2012 I get to start over again....

December 2009 - Car Accident (brief summary below)

We were the third car in a 3 car accident. We were at a complete stop. The car behind us was at a complete stop and the third car going approximately 40 mph in a 30 mph never found her brakes.  Both cars behind us were totaled and we were the only car to drive away with over $5000 in damage to our 7 passenger Chevy Trailblazer LS.   It has definitely had its trials and tribulations.

C-Man the driver - went to the doctor and didn't sustain any injuries.
E-Man back seat passenger sustained soft tissue damage in his back and shoulder.
Myself in the front passenger seat, I sustained sprained back from the middle (T-7) up to my neck.

E-Mans recovery took until April 2010 at the age of 16. He is young and resilient.

My recovery is still in process.  I have had complications with the band since the accident.  It has slipped twice.  I have had it unfilled for several months during recovery. I have recently gone in for a fill and feel so much better.  I have been finally released to do exercise again.  I have only been able to do very light exercise.

I am ready to ramp up and get back to walking.  I have little to no use of my right shoulder except light activities. I am to a point where I can actually carry my purse on that shoulder but for a very short period of time.

All of this has made my journey stall out. I go to all the support group meetings and it is very difficult to watch people who have had the band a lot shorter time period for me lose weight and be successful.

I am getting back to walking and getting exercise in.  Its time for a new beginning.  I have seen differences after my "first fill" of the journey. Glad that the band and I are now able to work together again in harmony.  One day at a time.

In the first six months I dropped 60 pounds.  Since December 2009 to February 2012 I have gained a total of 12 pounds. I know at times I have not made the best decisions, and being unfilled I can eat more than I should..so I try really hard not to.

The PA told me she was concerned that I had gained 12 pounds...I thought to myself.  What the hell are you talking about?  If I didn't have the band, I would have probably gained 100 pounds not being able to do normal life activities.  I did say the second part just not the WTH part. :)

She shrugged.  I have to consider going back and only seeing the surgeon not the PA - she hasn't had weight loss surgery and thinks that doing weight watchers is the same thing.   Very frustrating when you encounter someone who has not had weight loss surgery.  I only go in now when I truly need the care.

I am excited about being able to start over after all the lemons 2012 has handed our family.

Its a silver lining amidst all the rain.  Now waiting for the rainbow :)

Until next time....
